Developing an Alpaca farm seemed to be a good way to make this site productive in the future. The barn was revamped to house the animals along with fenced pastures. An eighteen horse stable was converted to house the mother’s and crias. We rescued two Llamas in 2005 while we were formatting our plan to start the Alpaca business. The first animals came to the farm from a northern Michigan breeder in August of 2007 with six bred females and five males. Currently the herd has approximately 40 Alpacas and two Llamas. We feel we have a very high caliber of Suri Alpacas which are ARI registered. There are several Sires which have produced around 25 crias. We plan to market around 10 animals during the next year and offer sires for breeding. Pictures of the farm and directions are on the web site. We are located about 25 miles north of downtown Detroit and the Clinton River flows through our farm. |
